Flower Of Life Altar Cloth – Galena Velvet

Create a beautiful and intentional space for your crystals, rituals and personal intentions with this Flower Of Life Altar Cloth.

This hand screen-printed altar cloth features the Flower Of Life sacred geometry design on soft galena velvet. Choose between white velvet with black ink or black velvet with white ink, depending on the look that resonates with your space.

The soft velvet provides a beautiful backdrop for your crystals while the Flower Of Life offers a visual framework for creating your own crystal grid. You can arrange your chosen crystals directly across the design, using the circles to guide your placement.

The galena velvet does not fray, although its softer texture can make perfectly straight hand cutting more difficult. Each cloth therefore has its own individual shape and character. Depending on the piece, you may find a square or circular cut.

Crystal grids bring together crystals, sacred geometry and focused intention. Therefore, creating a grid can provide a meaningful way to focus your attention during meditation, reflection, intention-setting and personal ritual.

⬡ Flower Of Life Symbolism

The Flower Of Life is one of the best-known sacred geometry patterns. Its design begins with the Seed Of Life and expands through a series of overlapping circles to create its distinctive flower-like form.

Across sacred geometry traditions, the Flower Of Life carries associations with creation, unity, interconnectedness and harmony. Its repeating circles create a sense of relationship between individual elements and the greater whole.

The pattern also contains numerous geometric forms within its structure. For this reason, the Flower Of Life has become an important symbol within modern sacred geometry practices.

Today, many people use the Flower Of Life as a visual focus for meditation, contemplation, spiritual practice and intention-setting. For those who work with crystals, its balanced geometry can also provide a beautiful framework for creating a purposeful crystal grid.

However, these associations do not determine how you should use the design. You might choose the Flower Of Life because you connect with its symbolism, its geometry or simply its visual appeal.

⬡ Creating A Crystal Grid

First, choose an intention that feels meaningful to you. Then, select crystals based on their traditional associations, your personal connection with them or simply the stones you feel drawn to.

Next, arrange your crystals across the Flower Of Life design and use the geometric pattern as a visual guide. You might create a symmetrical arrangement, repeat several crystals throughout the pattern or place a focal crystal near the centre.

There is no single correct way to create a crystal grid. Instead, allow your arrangement to reflect your own intention and personal practice.

As your intentions change, you can also change the crystals within your grid. In this way, the same altar cloth can support many different rituals and intentions.

⬡ Crystal Suggestions For The Flower Of Life

The Flower Of Life traditionally carries associations with creation, unity, harmony and interconnectedness. Therefore, these crystals may complement a grid created around similar intentions:

◈ Rose Quartz: Traditionally associated with love, compassion, harmony and emotional connection.

✦ Green Aventurine: Traditionally associated with harmony, growth, optimism and positive change.

◈ Moonstone: Traditionally associated with intuition, emotional balance and cycles of change.

✦ Amethyst: Traditionally associated with meditation, spiritual awareness and inner calm.

◈ Clear Quartz: Traditionally associated with clarity, intention and focused energy within crystal practices.

These suggestions provide a starting point. However, you can choose any crystals that feel meaningful to you and align with the intention behind your grid.

⬡ Screen Printed In Napier

My lovely friend Storm screen prints these altar cloths here in Napier, New Zealand.

This Flower Of Life cloth was one of our first screen-printing pieces. We chose soft galena velvet for its beautiful texture and rich appearance.

The fabric does not fray, although its soft, flexible nature makes straight hand cutting more challenging. Each piece therefore has its own individual shape and character.

The screen-printing process can also create small variations and imperfections in the printed design. These differences form part of the handmade nature of each cloth, so no two pieces will look exactly alike.

The traditional associations above provide inspiration rather than rules for using the Flower Of Life. Choose the design that resonates with you, then select crystals according to your own intention and personal practice.
